EN - Just a “Normal” STC Child

EN is a student in our Reading Starter program at the STC in Parola. He was enrolled by “kuya D”, whom EN calls “lolo”, even though they are not related. Rather, kuya D took it on his heart to support EN, as EN’s mother, who worked at his house, struggles in life. Lately, she even abandoned EN and his brother, and left them to the care of kuya D. And kuya D, even though being sick himself, is faithfully supporting EN! Next to paying the parent contribution, he visits the weekly support group for parents, and he also attends the parents teachers meetings and the monthly Thank You Service at church.

And all these efforts of kuya D are not lost on EN. While his tutor’s, teacher C and teacher M, at first experienced him as very “makulit”, and while at first EN was struggling when it comes to learning, they noticed a change in him after a few months. A change both in his actions and in his attitude. He stopped bullying and hurting his classmates, and at the same time started to pick up when it comes to reading and writing.

The teachers are very happy to see this development in EN, and they are thankful to God that he used their lives to teach and guide EN. They are confident now that EN is on a good path: he heard and experienced God’s love, kindness and guidance , and on top of that, he by now is good in reading and writing. It is this holistic impact on the lives of the children and their families, that we as Pro-Fil are praying and aiming for. And we praise God for his love and care for every child.
